A New Lens……….

Approaching Christmas I often treat myself to a little something that I’ve had my eye on for a while and this year is no different, I recently purchased an external flash in an effort to improve indoor pics and am surprised at the results, however just last week I really gave into temptation and bought the lens that I have drooled over for some time….. today was the first day out with it and although the sky was overcast and therefore the light was far from ideal I can tell that this lens is going to give me some cracking pics!……….. Below are just a taste (ISO 800/1250) when the light improves I’ll be out there snapping!…….:)

Now with it being time I should be a little drunk I wish anyone who is reading here a very Merry Christmas and all the very best for 2012………… Thank you for your support!…….:-)

Venus Pool Re-Visited

Another lens test session to be honest, but we do like the odd visit to Venus Pool for the sheer variety of photo targets!…… The first two are from a hide overlooking several feeders that encourage a lot of local bird life but mainly garden species, however there is always the chance of a woodpecker popping in!…..

Then of course if there’s peanuts around you’re sure to see one of these too!………

Another hide on the same site overlooks the pools and islands, fantastic scenery and vast array of water birds!…..

Garden Birds

Weather wasn’t too good today so found myself peering through the viewfinder pointed at the garden, not very inspiring but with a new lens to be checked out well worth the effort, anyway here is the result!…..:)

Macro Trials

I have to admit, that I have an interest in Macro photography, but have never really given it too much thought.

Chrissy however has decided to go for Macro in more serious fashion, buying a Sigma 150 for the purpose.

With more time on our hands at the moment, the weather against working outside and Chrissy offering the loan of her glass I decided the time was right to have a little play, below are a couple from the first serious session!……

And just in case there’s any doubt as to the scale we’re working at here this is one not cropped quite so far showing a pin head in the background!…..:0

A quick addition here at Chrissy’s sugestion, this is a view of the bunch of flowers showing their relative size……

Kinver Edge

Friday saw the arrival of a new lens, Sigma 10-20 F4-5.6 EX DC. This I guess was the reason for picking Kinver as a destination on Saturday.

Kinver Edge is a high sandstone escarpment covered in heathland and trees, giving all round views over several counties…. Ideal for checking out that wide angle lens!……

Below are a few from the day, I reckon the lens was a good move!…:)
